Welcome to our South Downs Community
Welcome to our South Downs Community
Our lovely villages are situated in the heart of the South Downs near to the ancient, historic town of Arundel in West Sussex. Together with some outlying dwellings, Burpham and Wepham together form the civil parish of Burpham.
Since 2013 we've been part of the newly created South Downs National Park and we are surrounded by thousands of acres of beautiful rolling countryside.

Burpham and Wepham are at the end of a road that goes nowhere. You will find a quiet village with its ancient village green and cricket pitch sitting inside an ancient Saxon Fort. It is from this that we derive our name, Burpham, a combination of the Saxon words Burgh (fort) and Ham (village).
We have a village pub, The George at Burpham, and a lovely Norman church. On the green you will find our village hall commanding an excellent view of the cricket pitch, plus outstanding views of Arundel Castle just 3 miles away. We're in the heart of the Norfolk Estate with miles of footpaths across the South Downs.
Our village is a popular place to take a holiday, walk or cycle from, or plan a birdwatching trip. Visitors come here to enjoy our peace and tranquillity and to walk the many paths such as the South Downs Way or the Monarchs way.
There is a lively community spirit, and a great deal happens in the village. See our list of groups, or check our most recent newsletter, both on this website under 'Village Life'.
Residents of Burpham and Wepham can sign-up to receive e-newsletters, or if you have a general enquiry, please use the email address at the foot of this page.
We hope you enjoy your visit to this very special place.
