Unfortunately due to COVID-19 the fete is cancelled , although it make take place later in the year if restrictions lift.  Thanks for your interest and support. 

Our wonderful village fete brings together our community in volunteering, making, baking, raffling, racing and having a great time, for the enjoyment of young and old.

The fete is planned to be from 1 p.m. to 4:00 , and entry is free to everyone who wants a great day out.  We're at the planning stages, so if you have something to contribute, as a volunteer, stallholder or advertiser, please contact us on heatherwbirch@btinternet.com

Burpham Village fete takes place in the wonderful setting of Burpham cricket field overlooking Arundel Castle and Arun valley.  This year it will take place on 30th May,  and we're already planning some wonderful activities for young and old.  All profits go towards maintaining our lovely village for future generations.   This year our new playground is open for children to explore.

Kick off meeting

Thanks to all who attended our Village Fete kickoff meeting.
We were bowled over by the amount of folk attending and by the general enthusiasm for the fete, as well as all your ideas and contributions, thanks so much.   

If you have an idea for the fete, would like to run a stall or just help out, or have friends or a local charity that would like to display, please contact  heatherwbirch@btinternet.com We will post updates on our website  and on our fete facebook page.   


We always need volunteers, so if you have time to spare, please let us know your name and contact details, and what you'd be willing to give time towards. Examples include: cream teas, parking, raffles, stalls, races, bric a brac, entrance collections


We will have a set number of stalls in each category, to avoid death by a thousand jams and marmalades.  Stallholders will be charged £12.50 for a standard sized pitch, and you should get a booking form from Heather Birch  Non-pitch people such as activities and food suppliers should contact Heather for a price.  You can download an enquiry form here, and send it to heatherwbirch@btinternet.com as an attachment (or by snail mail, her address is on the form), but please don't pay until Heather has confimed your booking.  We're looking for makers and crafters, bakers and enthusiasts of all types.  We're aiming to have about 500-600 people attend, to make it worth while for stall holders.  Free entry attracts a lot of families, and the George pub is next door.  We'll supply music, cream teas and attractions and a schedule of activities through the afternoon,  and we'll advertise your stall on our website and facebook page. 

  • Access is from 10 a.m., and you'll need to be set up by 12.45. You can bring a car onto the pitch and park by your stall but it must be removed to the field next door before the fete
  • You'll need your own Public liaibility and other insurance for equipment or rides. 
  • We won't confirm your booking for a few days, so we can make sure we have the space and facilities for you
  • You'll need to let us know on the enquiry form if you need power, water,if need to be inside the hall, or if there are other restrictions such as age limits or noise.   If you are running an activity you'll need to let us know how long it might take and what space it needs. 
  • There is 4G phone access for all providers across the cricket pitch, but no WiFi. If you have higher priced items you might wish to set up credit and debit card processing via your miobile phone

Advertising and sponsorship
A fete needs attractions and customers, and so we need funds to invest in this great occasion.  We'll be advertising widely in the press, on social media and on the radio, and on our website and facebook page. Any ad will be seen by all the fete goers. if you wish to discuss any appropriate advertising or sponsorship or supply of raffle prizes or games, then please contact Heather Birch.
