Arun District Council

Arun District Council manages most of our village services, from rubbish collection to local elections.  We pay Council Tax and business rates to them, and they collect and return  a small precept to the Burpham Parish Meeting to manage tasks specific to our villages.

Rubbish collection dates.   Rubbish is collected weekly on Wednesdays, with recycling on alternate weeks.  You can report a missed collection or arrange recycling here

There is a local recycling centre at Mill Lane, Littlehampton. You can check opening times here

We are in the heart of the SDNP, which is responsible for protecting this environment, making it a wonderful place to visit, and planning for its future.  All planning matters come within the remit of the SDNP.

We have no mains Gas in Burpham and Wepham. If you smell gas, it is probably the local muck-spreader. 


Our local supplier is Southern Water. Water is metered in this area. You can report a leak, submit a reading or report a change of address here

BT OPenreach maintain the local infrastructure.  if you experience a fault, you can check if there is a problem in your area here

Winter Salt

There is a bin in the Central car park for the public roads (not for private use). 

There is a disabled toilet by the front door the Village Hall, which is accessible using a RADAR key. 

There is a defibrillator by the front door of the Village Hall for public use. Just follow the instructions. 

In case of a crime, dial 999 if urgent. If not urgent, report it to Arun Police online or by calling 101.  There is CCTV at the entrance to Wepham Village . If you need to access footage, email kevin.foster60@sky.com

WSCC manages local schools, social care, many roads, business development, public rights of way, and provides many other services

Burpham Village Hall and Recreation Ground

The Burpham Village Hall and Recreation ground is a charity set up to manage the Village hall, the Saxon burgh where the playfield field stands, the car park, and the playground.  The management committee (also known as Burpham Village Committee), meets quarterly.  All are welcome to attend and raise village issues.  We welcome participation, and if you wish to become more involved, you can be co-opted onto the Committee at any time by the Chairman and then voted onto the Committee at the AGM.  Minutes can be found here

Our local surgery for appointments, referrals, prescriptions and NHS services. It aso has an embedded physiotherapy service

We are equidistant between St Richard's Hospital in Spitalfield's lane, Chichester (A&E, maternity)  13 miles

and Worthing Hospital (A&E, maternity) 13 miles

We also have a small local Arundel  community Hospital
