Burpham and Wepham

A South Downs Community

Welcome to the website of Burpham and Wepham

Our lovely villages are situated in the heart of the South Downs near to the ancient, historic town of Arundel in West Sussex.

Since 2103 we are now within the newly created national Park of the South Downs and we are surrounded by thousands of acres of beautiful rolling countryside.

Visitors will find a quiet village with its ancient village green and cricket pitch that sits on top of the site of an ancient Saxon Fort.  It is from this ancient language that we derive our name, Burpham, a combination of the Saxon words Burgh (fort) and Ham (village).

We have a village pub and a lovely Norman church that has Saxon and even Roman origins. On the green you will find our village hall that commands an excellent view of the cricket pitch plus outstanding views of Arundel Castle just 3 miles away.

Visitors come here to enjoy our peaceful and tranquil village and to walk the many paths such as the South Downs Way, the Lepers Way and the Monarchs way.

Whatever your need we hope you enjoy your visit.
